Artist's Description

Mr Hawkins, QC & Dr Kenealy QC,' from 'The London Sketch-book,' illustration by Faustin Betbeder, 1874. Henry Hawkins, 1st Baron Brampton QC (1817-1907) and Edward Vaughan Hyde Kenealy QC (1819-1880), Irish barrister and writer were on opposing sides on the Tichborne case, which was a legal cause celebre that captivated Victorian England in the 1860s and 1870s. It concerned the claims of Thomas Castro AKA Arthur Orton and the Claimant (1834-1898) to be the missing heir to the Tichborne baronetcy.
