(Original Caption) 7/22/1964-Brooklyn, NY- Mounted policemen charge into a group of screaming Negroes in the racially tense Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn here late 7/22. Defying a warning from Mayor Robert F. Wagner that "mob rule" would not be tolerated, hundreds of Negroes clashed with police. One Negro was shot and seriously wounded while trying to loot a store, according to police.
