(Original Caption) Jelke Trial, New York: An indignant Mickey Rooney hotly denied March 15 that he ever entertained former cafe-society call girl Pat Ward alone and said the current New York Vice Trial of Minot "Mickey" Jelke "is a big Hunk of nothing." Rodney is kissing his wife, the former Elaine Mahnken, the Burbank, California, the day after their marriage in Las Vegas, November, 1952 (above). Rooney's current remarks followed a charge made March 15 in New York by Chief Defense Attorney George Washington Herz in his opening statement to the jury trying Jelke on vice charges.
