(Original Caption) INDIANAPOLIS-6/2/69-: Italian-born Mario Andretti, 29, of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, is bedecked with flowers after winning the Indianapolis 500-mile race at Indianapolis speedway May 30th. Driving a substitute car after a crash that burned him painfully only a week earlier, Andretti finished in the record time of 3 hours, 11 minutes, 14.71 seconds for an average speed of 156.867 miles an hour. Burn scars from the crash are visible on his upper lip.
