Artist's Description

(Original Caption) Cleveland, O.: It didn't take long for Detroit manager Billy Martin to get into a disagreement with an umpire during the regular season. Martin exchanged words with plate umpire John Rice during the fifth inning of the season opener against Cleveland when a ball of the bat of Mickey Stanley bounced into fair territory just in front of the plate, but Martin thought it should have been called foul. Indians won, 2-1.
