Artist's Description

(Original Caption) Four giant propellers, like this one, were cast in Deptford, England, and were to be attacked to the screws of the giant French liner, Normandie, the body of which had been completed the Penhoet Shipyards, St. Nazaire, France. The operation would require about fifteen days, after which time, the huge vessel would undergo exacting trials. This propeller weighs 23 tons and measures more than fifteen and a half feet in diameter.
