(Original Caption) 3/19/1939-St. Petersburg, FL- Encroaching years and signs of fatigue show at last on the face of the once tireless Yankee workhorse, and this photograph lends its sad authority to the arguments of the skeptics who say that Gehrig is through. Lou is down in St. Petersburg battling to disprove the statements of his doubters. Garbed in rubber sweatshirt, the Old Man (he's 35) of the world of champions takes a vicious cut at the apple, which dipples away from him.
