Artist's Description

(Original Caption) 2/27/1978- New York, NY: St. Louis Cardinals' Lou Brock, the greatest base-stealer in the history of modern baseball, stops here enroute to spring training to present his record-breaking baseball shoes -- the ones he wore when he stole his 93rd career base to break Ty Cobb's 50-year-old record last August -- to the national Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Brock then received a gold-plated replica of his shoes in the form of a trophy.
