Artist's Description

(Original Caption) "Is this the woman?" melodramatically pointing at Mrs. Alice Jones Rhinelander, Lee Parsons Davis (7) her attorney, is pictured demanding of William L. Lawby, reporter and witness whether she was the person he interviewed on the colored pride story. Grilling examination of the reporter was largely based on the origin of her father. Slumped in his chair and apparently dazed and dozing was Leonard Kip Rhinelander (8) during this stage. Mrs. Geo. Jones (2) and Jones (3) bride's parents; Judge Swinburne (4) her counsel, Geo. Brooks (5); Leroy Koegh (6) defense counsel exhibited tense interest as Alice's letters revealed an adroit maneuvering to snare her man. She alluded to another suitor as rival for her affections. Her letters showed an astounding knowledge of the psychology of the male.
