Description
Scissortail Fusilier or Blue and Gold Fusilier Caesio caerulaurea occurs in the tropical Indo-West Pacific from the Red Sea and East Africa to Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to New Caledonia (but is absent in the Arabian Gulf) in a depth range from 1-60m, max. length 45cm, common length 25cm.
Adults are found in schools in deep lagoons and along seaward reefs in coastal areas (like this school), often (but not in this case) mixing with other species of fusiliers.
