Lewis, leader of the Committee for Industrial Organization, as he addressed 10,000 textile workers to open a drive, the goal of which is unionization of New England's textile workers. Lewis waxed bitter against Maine officialdom for the treatment meted out against C.I.O. organizers during a recent strike at Auburn and Lewiston, ME.
