(Original Caption) 3/11/1965-New York, NY-Former heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey "catches" himself falling through the ropes at the hands of Luis Firpo as he relives the embarrassing moment in 1923 during visit Mar.11 to An Exhibition, Sports in Art, being presented at the Biltmore Hotel by the Grand Central Art Galleries Mar.16-Apr.3. This painting Dempsey and Firpo by George Bellows was loaned by the Whitney Museum of American Art. Dempsey, incidentally, climbed back into the ring and knocked out Firpo in the second round.
