Independence Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, 1872. Originally built and inhabited by the colonial government of Pennsylvania (as reflected in its original name, Pennsylvania State House), it was the principal meeting place of the Second Continental Congress from 1775 to 1783, the site of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 and of the drafting and signing of the United States Constitution in 1787.
