Artist's Description

14th July 1956: Two British crew members are hoisted into the rigging of the schooner 'Creole' on the occasion of the first tall ships race from Torbay in Devon to Lisbon. Owned by Greek tycoon Stavros Niarchos, the 'Creole' is the largest privately owned yacht in the world, and reaches speeds of up to 17 knots.
