Artist's Description

The German-built dirigible 'Hindenburg' (Zeppelin LZ 129) catches fire in the stern while trying to land at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station, New Jersey. People watch from below, standing on the mooring mast and on the ground. The ship was engulfed in flames and crashed in less than a minute. Thirty-six people were killed in the disaster.
