It keeps L. E. Newlan "on the hop" keeping track of the millions of grasshoppers that constitute his stock in a trade. By means of a new machine of his own invention, he catches the insects by the million, bottles them in lots of about two hundred and sells them to fishermen for use as bait. Mr. Newlan gained the title of "Grasshopper King" last summer when he harvested more than seven million of the hoppers in infested areas throughout the West. The fact that last season's crop was unusually heavy should be good news to anglers who are unlimbering their rods for May 1st.
