Description
Nazi prisoners have a ripping time. What they are ripping is a huge log, which they are turning into boards, while armed guards look on. These men are from the German prisoner of war camp at Aliceville. They are paid $2.50 a day for work outside the camp. They get 80 cents of this in canteen credits. The government uses the remainder to assist in their maintenance.(Photo by Bettmann Archive/Getty Images)
