(Original Caption) German midgets fight for recovery of property....Although born in Saxony, Germany, Carl Achtermeier, 41 years old, and Franz Achtermeier, 44 years old, have been in America for thirty years. During the war, their property was seized by the alien property custodian under the trading and enemy act. The two midgets whose heights are scarcely over forty inches have appeared at Washington on the hope of regaining their savings, all of which were earned in this country. They are shown here with Thomas W. Miller, alien property custodian, who gave the midgets the "once over."
