(Original Caption) 5/13/1958-New York, NY: Dr. George N. Papanicolaou examines a slide here. "Dr. Pap" devised the "Pap" smear test for cancer, which the American Cancer Society credits with saving most of the 75,000 women who have survived uterine cancer. The doctor is being honored here May 13th by his colleagues and friends on the occasion of his 75th birthday. BPA 2 #3055
