9/26/1968-Washington, DC: President Johnson announced to newsmen at the White House the resignation of George Ball as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and named Washington Post Editor J. Russell Wiggins to succeed him. Johnson reffered to the appointment of Wiggins in high termsand said that America and the World had gained "an advocate of peace."
