British biochemist Professor Frederick Sanger was awarded his second Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1980. He is only the third person to win Nobel Prizes for science in the history of he awards and joins the illustrious company of Madame Curie and John Burdee. He shared his award with with Professor Paul Berg and Dr. Walter Gilbert for their independent work on pioneering precise techniques for examining and modifying the structure of genetic material. Here he is looking at a model of a DNA molecule.
