Description
(Original Caption) California Lad Wins Olympic 100-Meter Run. The new King of American sprinters, and ace of the Olympic Pack is 19-year-old Frank Wykoff, sensational schoolboy from Glendale, Calif., who featured the opening day of the final American field and track tryouts at the Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Mass., by winning the 100-meter dash from the flashiest band of sprinters the country has ever had and equaling the Olympic record of 10 3-5 seconds four times in this startling process. The above photo shows the finish of the final race in the 100-meter dash event, with Frank Wykoff breaking the tape first, Bob McAllister, New York's "Flying Cop" second, and Henry Russell of the Penn A.C., third.
