Fragment of a frieze from the church of San Martino ai Monti, Rome, Italy, (1928). 'About 850...time of Leo IV. (847-855). The bird frieze was carried under the roof of the basilica. Its value is in its rareness; it is the only one in Rome of which a fragment is preserved'. After Joseph Wilpert.
