Artist's Description

(Original Caption) 9/1/1961-Thornton, Cheshire, England: If this picture is rolled so the sides join to form a cylinder, the result will be an all-around head and shoulders of a man. It was taken by periphery photography on a unit developed by the research center of a British oil company. The unit consists of three separate parts: a rotating table on which the object to be photographed is placed, a traversing plate holder in a camera, and an electric control unit. This photography-in-the-round has uses in technical and research work.
