(Original Caption) Miss Margaret Newburgh of South St. Paul, is reputed to be the first woman to vote under the 19th amendment. The occasion was a special election on a municipal bond proposition. She appeared at the polls at 6 am Friday August 27, 1920 and was the first to vote in her precinct. Many St. Paul women were anxious to win the distinction of being the first to cast a ballot under the new given suffrage rights and a spirited race to be first at the polls was the result. Miss Newburgh won the coveted title
