4/19/38-Washington, D.C.: The Roosevelt smile was hitting on all six as the Chief Executive wound up here for the pitch that opened the 1938 baseball season at Griffith Stadium here, where the Washington Senators were hosts to the Philadelphia Athletics. The pitch was high and outside. At left is Harry Hopkins, WPA administrator. Right to left, Bucky Harris, manager of the Senators, and Connie Mack, manager of the Athletics.
