Doc Pomus recorded dozens of blues and rhythm and blues records as a singer for Chess Records and Apollo Records, authored dozens of songs with other legendary songwriters and producers including Phil Spector and the songwriting team Leiber and Stoller, and with pianist Mort Shuman wrote the hit songs "A Teenager in Love","Save The Last Dance For Me", "Hushabye", "This Magic Moment","Turn Me Loose", amongst many others.
