Diwan-i-Aam is popularly known as the Hall of Public Audience and is located within the premises of the Red Fort. The main purpose of this hall was to serve as a courtyard with a pavilion for audiences and an ornate throne-balcony for the emperor. It has heavy curtains with depth of around three bays. The columns inside the pavilion are painted in gold and there is also a railing made of gold and silver that separated the throne from the public.
