(Original Caption) 5/17/1960- New York, NY: Kress Picketed - pickets representing the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), give handbills to passerbys as they patrol before the building housing the main office of the S. H. Kress Company (114th 5th Avenue) in New York, May 17th. The organization is demanding integration of lunch counters in the dime store chain's Southern branches. As the pickets walked, the Kress Company was holding its annual stockholders meeting in the building. Signs say "End Lunch Counter Discrimination."
