(Original Caption) This photograph- a composite of two photos -taken in April 1861, by a Confederate photographer and shows damage to Ft. Sumter. Note Confederate flag flying from pole. This is one of the 350 Civil War documents, maps, photographs, drawings and sketches in an exhibit just opened at the National Archives. The exhibit is one of the largest collections of Civil War historical material ever compiled for public display.
