19 Feb 2015. Mombasa (Kenya). Daily tasks at the World Food Program (WFP) facility inside the port. Raw cereals bought by WFP on the worldwide market is transported by boat to the facility in Mombasa, which is the main one in Eastern Africa, to be packed and then re-distributed anywhere there is need. The majority of the food will leave the facility by train or trucks but airdrops are organised where access and security are an issue. The major area of needs at present are South-Sudan, due to continous fighting since December 2013, and refugee settlements in Kenya. Dadaab, as an example of high in need hostpost is a refugge settlement to more than 336'000 Somali refugees; the camp, which is one the biggested in world, is located approximately 100 kilometers from the Kenya-Somalia border, in the Garissa District.
