Artist's Description

(Original Caption) A lotta pipe dreams go up in smoke...Since 1924, there have been 2,500 cans of narcotics, most of it opium, has been accumulating in the appraisers building at San Francisco, so the customs officers decided it was time to do a little confiscating. They burned up $250,000 worth of narcotics in the building furnace. Here is Harry D. Smith of the U.S. Narcotic Division examining a can of opium.
