Copper gilt pyx, mid 15th century?, (1881). Etching of a hexagonal pyx (container for the host used in the Eucharist), possibly made in England, Germany, or Flanders. The shape echoes a shrine or lantern. The twelve apostles are depicted in pairs, and the whole is surmounted by a cockerel.
