Artist's Description

(Original Caption) Cincinnati Reds' Pete Rose (L) and Oakland Athletics' catcher Gene Tenace have verbal run-in at the plate during 5th inning of 5th game of World Series at Oakland Coliseum 10/20. It occured when Tenace made as if to throw the ball down to 3rd base the way catchers often do when the batter strikes out with nobody on base. It was a presumption on Tenace's part as Ump Bob Engel called the pitch a ball.
