(Original Caption) J. Presper Eckert, Jr. became associated with Dr. Mauchly's work on ENIAC in Philadelphia in 1943, when he earned his M.A. degree at the Moore School of the University of Pennsylvania. He became chief engineer for the ENIAC project, in charge of all technical phases of the work. He is a member of the Institute of Radio Engineers. The Howard N. Potts Medal, which includes a gold medal and certificate, was founded in 1906, and is awarded for distinguished work in science or the arts; for important development of previous basic discoveries; and for inventions or products of superior excellence or utilizing important principles. The medals will be presented on October 19, by Richard T. Nalle, president of the Franklin Institute, at traditional ceremonies in Philadelphia when a number of other awards will also be made.
