(Original Caption) 7/5/1933-Los Angeles, CA- Pauline Petrovich is the prize being hauled in by these members of the Coast Guard Base #17, Los Angeles, during their demonstration of the use of the breeches buoy in saving lives of shipwrecked mariners. The men used the lyle guns to shoot the first line to the "shipwrecked" persons. This devices is seldom seen in action except in a real case of actual disaster.
