23rd July 1949: Sixteen-year-old Ella Freeman, who performs under the stage name of Ella Clarissa the Ballerina is one of the most popular acts in Lord George Sanger's Circus. Here she elaborates on the two-horse pas-de-deux by balancing on the knee of a partner as they ride around the ring.
