(Original Caption) 11/28/1961- Hollywood, CA- Chubby Checker "twists" away as he introduces the new dance craze to Hollywood celebrities at The Crescendo, a night club on the Sunset Strip. The Negro singing star, who is credited with popularizing the new back-breaking dance craze, gained a new group of converts to the fad when many of filmland's celebrities joined the frenzy on the dance floor.
