Artist's Description

The Alluvial Fan Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park looked like a great place to shoot a waterfall foreground under starry night skies. So on one of my night photography workshops in August with great conditions, I took my students to the falls. And with our timing at about 3 am, we saw the Milky Way running in an east-west configuration - something that worked especially well in this location.I wasn't completely happy with my images of the falls from the August workshop so on another workshop in September, I decided to give it another try with a little better composition. It worked well that I arrived with my class at the Alluvial Fan Falls parking lot after having seen several awesome locations for night photography and with most of the instructional portion completed, so a few students were very happy taking a bit of a break by just shooting from the parking lot.
