Description
Bust of Pope Innocent X, circa 1690, (1881). Etching of a bronze portrait bust of Giambattista Pamphili, Innocent X (1574-1655), made posthumously by Domenico Guidi in Rome. The sculpture is based on an earlier terracotta model of 1650 by Alessandro Algardi, who was Guidi's master. From "The South Kensington Museum", a book of engraved illustrations, with descriptions, of the works of art in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (formerly known as the South Kensington Museum). [Sampson Low, Marston, Searle and Rivington, London, 1881]. Artist Bernard Collier. (Photo by The Print Collector via Getty Images)
