Description
Bronze vase, 16th or 19th century, (1881). Etching of a vase with handles in the form of acanthus leaves, made in northern Italy, possibly Venice. The dating of this object has not been problematic. It may have been made circa 1520-circa 1560 by the Alberghetti foundry, or it could have been manufactured in the first half of the 19th century. From "The South Kensington Museum", a book of engraved illustrations, with descriptions, of the works of art in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (formerly known as the South Kensington Museum). [Sampson Low, Marston, Searle and Rivington, London, 1881]. Artist R I Stevenson. (Photo by The Print Collector via Getty Images)
