Description
NEDERLAND, CO - JUNE 1974: American trombone player, brass player, and singer songwriter Jim Pankow, a founding member of big band rock act Chicago, poses for a portrait in June, 1974 at Caribou Ranch, the legendary recording studio, near Nederland, Colorado, close to the ghost town of Caribou, a former silver-ming town. The studio was built in a converted barn on a 4,000 acre ranch by producer James William Guercio in 1972. Throughout the 1970s, rock music's biggest acts, including Elton John, Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Joe Walsh, Michael Jackson, and The Beach Boys traveled to the rustic Rocky Mountains setting and recorded hit albums in the legendary Caribou Ranch studios. The studio was closed after a fire in 1984. (Photo by David Gahr/Getty Images)
