Fight scene from the Battle of Mühldorf (also Battle of Ampfing) on September 28, 1322. Miniature from the magnificent manuscript of William of Oranje. The pictures of this knightly epic include the most authentic and most beautiful works of medieval miniature painting and give clothes, weapons, etc. a true picture of this time. Published in 1334 by order of Henry II, Landgrave of Hesse (1302 – 1376), preserved in the Hesse State Library of Kassel (Germany). Replica (lithograph) from an old manuscript, published in 1880.
