(Original Caption) Paris, France: Colette, whose novels, short stories and plays have been popular in France and throughout the world for half a century, died in her Paris apartment last night, at the age of 81.This is a recent and hitherto unpublished photograph of Colette.It was taken earlier in the year in her apartment.Because of ill-health, she was unable to attend the film premiere of "Le Ble en Herbe" and the film director, Claude Autant-Lana had a 76mm copy made for projection in the author's home.
