[UNVERIFIED CONTENT] Khast Imam (or Hast Imam) is a complex of buildings in Tashkent, consisting of several mosques, islamic schools (madrassa), such as Barak-Khan, Tilla Sheikh Mosque and the Hazrat Imam mosque. The Islamic Institute of Imam al-Bukhari, where future preachers are taught is also at this complex. The Telyashayakh Mosque (Khast Imam Mosque) contains the Uthman Qur'an (Samarkand codex), considered to be the oldest existing Quran in the world. Dating from 655 and stained with the blood of the murdered caliph, Uthman, it was brought by Timur to Samarkand, seized by the Russians as a war trophy and taken to Saint Petersburg. It was returned to Uzbekistan in 1924.
