(Original Caption) 10/9/1963-Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam: An American soldier keeps watch from airborne helicopter carrying Vietnamese troops over marshlands south of Saigon October 5th, during a major offensive against Viet Cong guerrillas in the area. A U. S. military spokesman in Saigon said Oct. 9th that two Marine Corps helicopters carrying a total of 12 Americans crashed and burned in the jungle highlands about 325 south of Saigon. The exact cause of the crashes was not determined.
