(Original Caption) 8/30/1950-Forest Hills, NY- Wimbledon champion Louise Brough of Beverly Hills, California (R) poses with Althea Gibson of New York, in front of the scoreboard after Miss Brough defeated Miss Gibson 6-1, 3-6, 9-7 in the National tennis championships at Forest Hills. Twenty-two-year-old Miss Gibson is the first Negro ever to play at Forest Hills.
