Description
All Hallows Church, London Wall, City of London, circa 1901 (1906). All Hallows-on-the-Wall is situated adjacent to London Wall, the former city wall of London. The present church was constructed by George Dance the younger (1741-1825) in 1767, replacing an earlier church built around the 12th century on a bastion of the old Roman wall. It became renowned for its hermits, who lived in cells in the church. From Medieval London, Vol. II - Ecclesiastical by Sir Walter Besant. [Adam & Charles Black, London, 1906]. Artist: Unknown.
