Artist's Description

Ala De Retablo (Santa Barbara)', 1438, (c1934). Right panel of the Werl Triptych, painted by Robert Campin (sometimes called Master of Flemalle). Santa Barbara lived when Christianity was illegal. Her father was a pagan and locked her in a tower where she is seen reading beside a fireplace. Oil on oak panel. Held in the Museo del Prado, Madrid. From Galerias De Europa: Museo Del Prado, by A.
