(Original Caption) 11/30/1943-South Pacific: Admiral William F. Halsey,(r) Commander, South Pacific Forces, as he presented the Navy Cross to Lt. Col. Victor H. Krulak, USMC, of Denver, CO, former Assistant Coach of the U.S. Naval Academy crew, at a South Pacific base. The citation was given for "extraordinary heroism displayed against an armed enemy as commanding officer of a unit of wartime parachute regiment, during Operations on Choiseul Island, British Solomon Islands..."
